With the acquisition of an untapped spring and the construction of a bottling plant, the Compagnie des Pyrénées is preparing the arrival on the market of Ô9 - New water mineral water, in a responsible approach.
The launch at the end of the year of a new mineral water à Merens-les-Vals (09), near the thermal spa of Ax-les-Thermes, by the Pyrenees Company, chaired by Damien Chalret du Rieu, is still relevant despite the health crisis. And this with only 1 month late. Thus, the work ofbottling plant of 10 m² have been taken over under the supervision of the contractor GSE.
Distribution to the general public and professionals
The facilities should be operational next October, with the marketing of the first bottles expected at the end of the year. However, this new water, baptized " Ô9 - New water ”, Will not fully enter the market until the beginning of 2021. It will thus be distributed in medium and large surface first in Ariège, then throughout Occitania. At the same time, a service for hotel and restaurant professionals is being considered.
The project, which requested nearly 20 million euros, benefited from a fundraising of 7 million euros from family investors. It is based on water drawn from a hitherto untapped source of natural mineral waters of Goutils Pédourès.
A responsible production chain
The company also claims an eco-responsible approach throughout the production circuit. It promises, for example, to ensure the preservation of the resource by not taking more than 15% of the level available at low water. For the design, alternative materials to plastic, such as cardboard, will be used. With this in mind, an exclusive partnership has been signed with Tetra Pack. A territorial ecology is also sought after by pooling resources with other actors in the department. In terms of energy consumption, only green energies will be exploited. The company even explains that it will collect used bottles from its customers.
Finally, on the side ofemployment, a desire emerges to favor the premises. In this sense, 18 people have already been recruited to form the team, which will eventually include around forty individuals.
