Yannick Bestaven wins the Vendée Globe 2020-2021

Yannick Bestaven Vendée Globe 2020 victory

The suspense was at the rendezvous on arrival this Wednesday evening. The ranking was played between five sailors. Burton (Bureau Vallée 2), Rettant (LinkedOut) and Bestaven (Maître CoQ IV) headed north to reach Les Sables-d'Olonne. Dalin (Apivia) and Herrmann (SeaExplorer - Yacht Club de Monaco) have for their part decided to go through the Gascony golf course and the Spanish coast.

The French sailor declared the winner

Originally from the Arcachon basin, the French skipper Yannick Bestaven arrived this Thursday 28 janvier at 4 hours, 19 minutes and 46 seconds. It is after 80 days, 13 hours, 59 minutes and 46 seconds of solo racing around the world, without stopover and without assistance that he is designated the winner of this 9e edition Vendée Globe.

A winner who did not come first

Although arrived a little less than eight hours after Charlie Dalin, the Arcachonnais sailor saw his time increased by 10 hours and 15 minutes by the international jury of the Vendée Globe following the rescue of Kevin Escoffier.
